Preschool Philosophy: The Ship That Changes Identity

The final episode of Preschool Philosophy is here, and it focuses on the Ship of Theseus, a thought experiment written by Plutarch. It deals with identity and what identity is composed of.

The idea of the ship of Theseus can be applied to anything else in the world, including humans. After all, the atoms in human body is constantly being replaced, so what exactly are you? Are you just your physical body or are you your memories? Or are you something completely different? The question is an open ended one, and many philosophers over the years have had different answers for it, but what do you think?

There is also an excellent comic by Existential Comics that illustrates idea of self with a futuristic teleportation scenario. You can also learn more from this Wikipedia page.
