The Meme-ing of Life: One Does Not Simply Read One Post

Hi, my name is Melina and I’m a junior at Abraham Lincoln High School. Over the next few weeks, I want to demonstrate the importance of trying new things. The experiences that I have accumulated from stepping out of my comfort zone during my sixteen years of existence have not only introduced me to new opportunities, but have also helped me to become a better person. I plan to share these unique stories using one of the best ways I know: through memes that I find or make with Illustrator!

Hopefully, you have had the delightful honor of stumbling onto a meme. But if you haven’t—according to one of Wikipedia’s always accurate definitions—a meme is “an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.” In my own words, a meme is like a giant cultural inside joke that inevitably dies out. If you’re interested in exploring the lifespans of memes before their utter demise, you can find them here in my future posts.
