I’m Gian Paolo Sabatini, and I’m an 18-year-old who lives in Milan, Italy. This summer I am staying in San Francisco for a month, hence this is the reason why I enrolled at Sunset Media Wave. I have been passionate about art and drawing since I was a child, but among my recent areas of interest, politics and international affairs have really captured my attention, so I thought I could combine both of these passions by making caricatures of politicians. Thus, over the next few weeks, this column will focus on my efforts trying to improve my skills as a political cartoonist. This will be done by copying existing caricatures of important political cartoonists so that I can get exposed to different styles and eventually create my own.
