The Road Best Taken: Cyber Workout

In this day in age, technology is everything. Innovators have found a way to do just about anything with technology –– fitness included. Unfortunately I am not unveiling a humanity-changing app that will transform you into a bodybuilder or Candice Swanepoel with the touch of a button, but these apps can definitely help and guide you to achieving your goals. The best thing is, you can do most of these in the comfort of your own home.

cyber27 Minute Workout “Seven” with High Intensity Interval Training Challenge (FREE; iOS, Android)

The 7 Minute Workout is one of my favorite workout apps. It involves strength training as well as cardio in 30 second intervals of intense activity followed by 10 seconds of rest for seven minutes. The activities include jumping jacks, wall sits, push-ups, crunches, step-ups, squats, and much more. The app is easy to navigate through and there are a variety of settings to personalize your workout, such as selecting the target area of our workout and the voice of your instructor. I always use Alli Simpson’s voice because she is an inspiration to me and I feel like she is actually there alongside me.

FitStar Personal Trainer (FREE; iOS)

FitStar is another app that I highly recommend. It has different levels ranging from beginner to expert and instructional videos on how to do workouts. It is like having your personal trainer wherever you go! Perhaps my favorite part about this is that you get so much for the price of nothing! Unfortunately the perks of the FitStart Premium is only free for one year, but I am not complaining!

Zombies, Run! ($1.99-$3.99; iOS, Android)

Although this app does require you to hand over the moolah, it does seem worth it if you are willing to make the effort to go outside and run. This app combines everyone’s favorite thing with everyone’s worst enemy to form a rocking workout. There are over a hundred storylines for you to be immersed in as you run from zombies and build bases to save humanity.

Monthly Challenges (FREE; For Everyone!)

Though not an app, these monthly challenges are very effective when done regularly. The physical trails are easily found on the internet and require no more than a few minutes to complete. Just save the image and you are set for the month! Below are a few 30-day challenges I have found.

Tip: To make sure you do not skip a day, setting a reminder or alarm for the same time each day might be very helpful.
