Bodhi Dotson – Eclipse Eyes [Debut EP]

“Bodhi Dotson was born to create, become a guitar wizard and undoubtedly reshape music as we know it. This ia Bodhi’s first solo EP, centered on math rock, shred, and grunge/metal. The three songs in this collection will be the start of a life long journey of sonic inspiration.” – SMW Press Release

1. Changing Colors

This song was the first I came up with starting with a single musical idea before branching into a tree of expressions. Each session has led to a new part that extends the branches.  Changing Colors refers to the unpredictability of human nature. It’s about how people evolve unexpectedly, and how we inevitably  adapt to those changes, sometimes reluctantly. This is my first song and it has been adapted multiple times as I change and the song changes along with me.

2. Underwater Speed Bump

This song was written in a day, which might lead to to think:  “This can’t be good” or “Music should never be rushed.” But this song was not a rushed project or  based on any particular time constraint. Underwater Speed Bump was written during a huge rush of emotion and focus that resulted in a song that felt natural and complete. The title captures the sum of this unique sonic experience. This song in particular is my personal favorite because I believe it perfectly combines my musical influences into a cohesive sonic journey. From my roots in punk and grunge, to my modern post prog shred that turns the guitar as an instrument into a direct window into my brain and feelings that extend beyond words.

3. Solar Gathering

My final song is called Solar Gathering because it delves into the power of music itself—how it shapes me, how it can amplify my emotions, whether good or bad. Solar Gathering is an exploration that runs from the start to the unexpected ending, which references the people we meet the times we must treasure. To experience heaven alone is nothing special but joy with others makes it so much more memorable. For me, its not just about what happened, the time, or the occasion, but who I spent my time with and. the relationships that were built. These memories are lifelong.
