Dolores and Rusalka are the product of combining my love for visual art and music. Before this, I had never made a musical instrument, so this project was very exciting.

Rusalka (blue) is a wood box with three classical guitar strings and a clay body. Her favorite hobbies are breaking her fingers and lying on her back.

Dolores (pink) is a membrane reed instrument made with PEX pipes, a plastic candy bottle, and a latex glove. She has three notes and doll hands.

The piece of music, titled Chime Fingers, was inspired by all the time I spent at Ocean Beach this summer. The instruments used are Rusalka, Dolores, and Dolores’s twin sister (not shown) who plays three additional notes.
